Turkish Angora
is a breed of one of the ancient and naturally occurring breed of cats from the Ankara region in Central Turkey. They are a distant cousin of Turkish Van and they also have a connection between Ankara and Persians. Like all the domestic breeds of cats, Turkish Angora have also descended from African wildcats. Turkish is one of the most popular family pets especially for older people and people living alone.

Turkish Angora has a finely boned body structure with a white, silky and medium long coat and no undercoat. Turkish Angora cats are best known for their shimmery white coat. Besides, they come in more than twenty varieties of colors including black, blue and red. Eyes may be blue, green or amber colored. They are regarded as one of the most outgoing, intelligent and affectionate breed of cats. They tend to make strong bonds with their owners. However, they also play with children, other family members and even strangers.

Tonkinese is a medium size cat breed that has been been developed by cross breeding a Siamese and a Burmese Cat.  They very distinctive points as found in the Siamese and Himalayan cats.  They are very vocal, lively and friendly cats. First breed of Tonkinese or Tonks was established in Canada in 1984. However, many breeders claim that Tonkinese-like cats have been in existence from as early as 1800s. Tonkinese is more like a Burmese in temperaments than a Siamese.

Tonkinese is a lean and muscular cat with a typically heavier body and a wedge-shaped head. They have large ears that are set towards the outside of their head. They generally come in four colors and a wide variety of patterns including mink, solid and pointed, mink being considered as the most preferable variety for show rings and amongst cats fanciers. Most commonly recognized colors are platinum, champagne, blue and natural. They have golden or bluish-green eyes. Tonkinese is an extremely inquisitive and energetic breed of cats and makes a wonderful companion.

Sphynx or Canadian hairless cat is a breed of rare cats that are well known for its lack of coat. Although hairless cats have been around for many centuries and have been described in many parts of the world but the first successful breed was Sphynx. Due to their hairless coat, Sphynx often keep them warm by cuddling up against other animals and humans, often intending to sleep with their owners under covers.

Despite being described as hairless cats, Sphynx is not truly hairless and the skin is often covered with a very thin layer of hair. They have a sturdy and heavy body with wedge-shaped head. They are best known for their extrovert behaviors, high level of energy, intelligence, curiosity and affectionate temperaments. Sphynx come in a wide variety of colors and marking patterns. Since they do not have any coat, Sphynx cats are literally maintenance-free. However, care should be taken to ensure that they do not remain outdoors for long time, as they can easily develop sunburns.

Siamese is a domestic breeds of Oriental Cats from southeast Asia, which have descended from sacred temple cats of Siam, Thailand. In Thailand, there are several native breeds of Siamese cats. During the twentieth century, Siamese cats have become extremely popular in North America and Europe. Siamese cats, also known as Thai cats or  Classic Siamese cats, are typically long-lived cats, 15-20 years being the average lifespan and more than 20-years not uncommon.

Siamese cats have almond shaped bright blue eyes. They have a short and flat-lying coat. Original Siamese cats had a kink on their tails, which has been eradicated in the newer breeds. Kinked tail varieties are still found on the streets of Thailand. Siamese cats are affectionate and intelligent cats, best known for their social nature and sometimes also described as extroverts. They can not easily adapt to the changes in environments and to the strangers. Siamese cats are extremely vocal with a loud  and low-pitched voice, which is often compared to the cries of new-born human babies.

Norwegian Forest is a very old breed of domestic cats native to Northern Europe, mainly from Norway. The breed can adapt itself very well to extreme cold climates of Norther Europe. Some breeders believe that Norwegian Forest Cats are early ancestors of Maine Coon and Manx cats. They have a thick and fluffy double coat  with a coarse and weather-resistant outer coat and a soft and dense undercoat.

Norwegian Forest Cats have tufted ears and long bushy tail, which also protects them from cold climates. They are large-sized cats that can weigh up to 22 pounds. Hind legs are longer than the front legs. Intelligent, robust and playful by nature, Norwegian Forest Cats enjoy human company and thus are often very popular as family pets. They like to remain outdoors and are great hunters. They can easily climb trees, high vantage points and elevated surfaces in the homes. Besides being quiet, patient and active, they have good overall stamina.

Nebelung is an elegant and long-bodies breed of cats. The name Nebelung is derived from its unique silky bluish grey coat and perhaps also due to medieval Germanic Saga.  Nebelung is a very new breed of cats that are just beginning to be recognized by cat associations all over the world. The Nebelung cats look like Russian Blue Cats except for their long coat. Nebelung is a lively, affectionate, gentle, playful, good-natured, active and intelligent breed of cats.

Body and tail of Nebelung cats are long. Ears are large in proportion to the head. Eyes come in the shade of yellowish green to green. Body is well-muscled and medium sized. Coat is medium long on the body and longer on the tail. Long and sturdy Nebelung cats are relatively rare in most parts of the world because the breed is new and has been recognized only in America, Canada, Russia and Europe. Korat is a breed of small and shorthaired domestic cats from Thailand. Known as ‘good luck cats’ in Thailand, Korats are generally gifted in pairs to to the newlyweds and other well-known people as a token of ;good luck’ wishes. Korats that have been known to Thai people for centuries, made first appearance in USA in the 1950s and in Britain in the 1970s. Korat is a very gentle, active and fun-loving animal. They are generally scared of loud noises.

Body of Korats is muscular with a heart-shaped head, which has a unique feature of being very broad across its eyes. Large and bright eyes tend to become luminous green when the animal attains the age of around four years. Legs are thin and well-proportioned to the overall body dimensions, front legs being shorter than hind legs. The coat is short, shiny and slate bluish grey. The breed has an excellent sense of hearing, smell and sight.
